Looking back at 2026
Two days in Kalkar.
On 29 and 30 September 2026, Wunderland Kalkar was the meeting point of Germany's space and defence scene, powered by ArianeGroup and Evonik, supported by the Bundeswehr Space Command. At its centre was one question: how does Germany protect its infrastructure in space? ZDF heute journal, tagesschau, WDR, SpaceWatch.Global and David Matei reported from Kalkar and took space security out of the expert bubble.

Space Awareness
Keynotes and mission briefings in the historic control room, then the Experience Colony: 15 walk-in domes where companies showed their technology. To close the day, a DeltaOrbit rocket engine fired live in front of the reactor building.

Space Defence Expeditions
In the hangar, six teams worked on three challenges from Space Command. In the evening they pitched their solutions in the cooling tower, on Germany's largest pitch stage, opened by Major General Michael Traut.

The challenges were developed with the Bundeswehr Space Command. Two teams took on each one and developed different approaches, from the hangar to the pitch in the cooling tower.
